Random 7 stringers

Well... I play 7-strings half the time and 6-strings the other half of the time...

and when I had a 4-string bass, I played that 1/4 of the time (not a factor now. Gave it to my brother before I moved on back to Japan).

Also had an 8-string mandolin (it's in my parent's basement in the US. Didn't bring that with me to Japan either) that I played 1/6 of the time....

So do I count as random?

I caught a band Friday night, and one of the guitarists started the first song with a sweet looking Universe, the one with the abalone pyramid on the body.

They finished the first song, he put it down, and picked up a Paul Reed Shit.

ok hardy har har how about "known" people outside of this website that uses them randomonly.Also nickleback used 7's??

Not to my knowledge.

I know the guitarist of the Salads used a 7-string for one of their new songs they were working on when I saw them last year.

Matt Bellamy (sp?) of Muse uses a 7-string on "Citizen Erased"

There's others but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Oh yeah, 311 used one on one song.

Chimaira used them on their 1st album, playing Drop A. Then they decided they'd rather play 6's tuned Drop C.

As for Cannibal Corpse, they've been playing 7's since the Vile album from 95/96. Usually each album has one or 2 songs in Eb like the 6 string stuff and the rest is Bb. They're not what I'd call part time, since Pat plays 7's pretty much exclusively when they tour.

JP Uses them a lot more than randomly too... Satch is a definite one though.

Well, regardless of "how much" they use them, they are still switch-hitters. None of those guys are exclusive to a 7...thus, random.
