Buying a seven string

been looking at 7 stirngs on thomann n im deliberating between a few models theres the LTD SC207, the ibanez 7321, and the schecter demon (not damien) 7 which comes in both TOM and FR arrangements what does the lod think. theyre all in a similar price range and i will be forced to buy without trying any of em. also my budget is just about fixed at this price around under £300

Hmm, that's a tough one. I've got no experience with the SC207 or the Demon, but I have owned an RG7321, a C7 Blackjack and an LTD M207. All should be good guitars though.

What kind of neck do you prefer? Thickness wise, the Ibanez will be thinnest and the Schecter the thickest with the LTD in between.

Unless you have to buy new, you'll get more for your money used.

Also consider the LTD M107 and M207, they're aroud £200 - £300 used.

thanks thats pretty helpful cause those auctions dont come up when i search 7 string guitar on ebay. any other brands/models to look out for

Funny, I just went to musical instruments>guitar and searched for 7 string

If you want a decent-ish guitar for not a lot of cash, Squire Stagemasters are actually pretty decent. The pickups and electrics are crap, but you can get the guitar for £100ish leaving plenty for some nice pickups and pots.

Go with the rg7321, then you'll really wanna change the pickups but its a good guitar really.

there were a lot of bad reviews for the 7321 so i kinda overlooked it a bit

If you are gonna go RG, save the money and get an RG1527. I stopped playing my 7321 after I got that.

What I will say about the RG7321 is they swapped manufacture from Korea to Indonesia around 18months ago. The Korean one's all seem to be pretty good. The Indonesian one's have some reports of poor quality control.

The neck on the 7321 sucks, horribly. I would never get one, it just feels bad, it's like holding a rectangle

im thinking if i can save up enough of my wage by my birthday i might splurge for the 1527. theres one new on the website of my local shop (i still dont know if its still a stock item) at £499 it seems a bit cheaper than others ive seen on the net is this a fair price to pay
