I'm sure there are others, but when I had a Lo-TRSII, after about a month (or less), I ordered a receptacle and arm for a Lo-Pro, and put it on, since I can't stand wobbly trem arms. This went on fairly easily, about the same as installing a replacement on an Edge-style trem. The top of the receptacle doesn't sit flush like it does on an Edge of course, due to a different design of the base, but it does fit without any crazy modding, looks just fine and works perfectly well. It tided me over just fine until I killed my TRSII trem. (It's been Lo-Pro Edge for me ever since...)

For the TRS7, unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't look like you can change the arm holder, since it's inside the sustain block (unlike on the Edge).

I haven't seen the underside of a TRS7, so I couldn't say for sure. It's also been like almost 10 years since I made that mod on my RG5450DX, so I don't remember exactly what the extraction process of the old arm holder was like. I'm not afraid of tools, so it's possible that I had to take it completely out of the guitar and bang out the old arm holder with a hammer (I don't remember there being threads on the underside of it).

Either way, I would think that the receptacle would have to SOMEHOW be removable, even if it required extensive dismantling.

The TRS-7 bridge is no different than the 6-string version, in which the arm mount is easily removable, though you do have to remove the bridge to do it, since it involves an allen screw on the bottom of the arm mount, which you can't reach with the trem installed. But it's easy to change, actually. I've done on a couple of guitars. By the way, the mount is the same type used on the Schaller and Original Floyd trems, and if you buy an arm mount for an OFR, it will be much better quality than the one that came with the TRS bridge.

I'm confused, does the whole arm holder assembly fit inside the sustain block then? It definitely looks different from an Edge, which has the arm holder attached to the baseplate and not even in contact with the sustain block.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken, the arm on the TRS-7 attaches to the baseplate, not the sustain block, just as on the 6-string TRS. The TRS, in terms of design, is not that much different than an Original Floyd, just made out of crappy materials and with poor quality control. But on every Floyd and imitation Floyd I've ever seen, the arm attaches to the baseplate, not the sustain block. The block is a separate piece that attaches to the bottom of the baseplate, and I've never seen one that had any connection to the trem arm.

By the way, now that I recall it, I HAVE installed a new arm on a TRS 7-string Floyd (on an old Schecter V-7), and it definitely attaches to the baseplate, not the sustain block. You have to remove the trem to change the arm, but once you've done that it's no more complex than getting an allen wrench to undo the screw on the bottom of the arm mount. This is no different than any Schaller or post-'80s era Original Floyd that has the arm with the collar on it.

I'll try to take a picture tonight if I have time. I definitely remember adjusting the tension spring via a screw in the sustain block.

I hope you're right, because I'd really be happy if I could change the arm holder...

Actually, this pic gives the idea:

See how the sustain block extends all the way to the area under the arm holder?
