I think he means hardware. I'd say give it a shot, after all you might be better than you think with some practice. Try your skills out on some scrap bits of timber first until you've got the technique down a bit, that way you'll do a better job of the guitar. I think getting black hardware for it would look better, but the stuff you've got on it will still work.

I'd do it. That guitar would look so much more badass in a bright red finish like that. I'm not even that crazy about red red guitars and I still thinks its a good idea. So yeah...do it. Plus, refinishing projects are fun
