I have FINALLY figured out what was wrong with the Rhino Liner'd ESP LTD MF-207!! And it's easily fixable and I don't have to sell it!!
So, after trying the DiMarzio "New 7" pickup in the guitar to make sure it wasn't just the EMGs that were feeding back, I decided to put the guitar back to normal and take it up to GC and try it out on an amp that wasn't mine, to see if I still had the feedback problems. So I took it up and plugged it into a XXX in the "Loud Lounge". Played a D chord and stopped, and heard ringing, like reverb. So I look at the back of the amp for a reverb knob, and didn't find one. Interesting. So I take an Epi LP off the wall and plug it in. Administered the same D chord, and muted. No sound. Hmm.... so let's think here...Sounds like there's reverb on the amp, but there isn't. So it's got to be coming from the guitar. What sounds like reverb?... Took the screwdriver I brought with me (to adjust pickup heights) and opened up the backplate. Took one hand and pressed on the springs. Hit the strings with the pick, and then muted. Guess what?... NO VIBRATIONS!!! No vibrations = no feedback loop!!!! So I took a hankerchief and shoved it in the trem cavity, touching the springs to mute them, and put the cover back on. Played on the amp. Quite as hell, no feedback!!! I guess it turns out that the vulcanized rubber doesn't allow the body to vibrate, so the vibrations are sent to an area on the guitar that will vibrate, hence causing an ultravibration in the springs. So now, I'ma take some EMG foam and sandwich the springs in the front and back with it. That should relieve any issues I'm having, and I'll get to finally play the guitar on stage!!! Just too damn bad I don't have any bar gigs lined up for the next two months ![]() ![]() Metal... i hate EMG pickups, but i love that thin, dense foam they pack them in. make sure it's not pinching in between the spring coils, or your trem won't return exactly to pitch. front and back foam shouldn't be necessary, but so long as it's not getting in between the coils it won't hurt.

a question. if the rubber doesn't allow vibration, and therefore transferred the energy to the springs. how does this guitar sound? does it have good resonance? does it sing?

I don't really know yet... lol. Because it's done nothing but "squeal" to this point... not "sing"
