Guitar Building Games/Programs
I've ran across a few guitar building games online but they're all 6 string guitars! Programs such as Kisekae Guitars and the JCF Custom shop. If you don't know about these programs I can post links. Kisekae has RGs and JEMs but none of them are 7 strings. The owner/creator of the site and program is pretty hard to get to add a completely new program. JCF's program strictly deals with Jacksons and Charvels. We need a crafty member of this here forum that can work with flash to research those programs and make 7 strings! I'm suggesting it because, well....I can't, but would love to create a custom 7 string like I've made the many 6 strings. I've modified an RG from Kisekae but it's got flaws.
But thats the closest I get to making a custom 7 string with those programs. Good idea, or stupid? Let me know! |

I was sitting thinking about this today.. I love guitars and I being an animation student I love 3D and all the stuff that goes with animating characters, modelling, texturing blah blah. I was sitting daydreaming about doing some kind 3D fantasy guitar program, like a Kisakae but in 3d.
Maybe one day when I've graduated, got a job and have some money I'll find some clever programmers and stuff and we'll try and come up with something. I'd be cool to be able to mix and match ready made bits and pieces, then hit the render button and have a image of a guitar appear. Rather like those Virtual Jems that are on Jemsite. If you've never seen the Virtual Jems... http://www.jemsite.com/etc/dl/virtualjem/index.htm Every update you'd get new body shapes, paint jobs, inlays and stuff. Of course people can do it already if they're competant at 3DSMax/Maya/Cinema 4D whatever but it'd be cool to have a dedicated program that would be easy to use for someone who just wants to mix'n'match bits and pieces and get quick results. Rather like Kisakae, but much sexier. Lefty Musketeer ![]() |

I could do that if I had the time / someone paid me...
I've been using MAX for years & have been doing freelance 3D for web applications using Cult3D & Wirefusion. Unfortunately I haven't got a great deal of spare time for doin stuff ( I also work full-time, & the freelance work already takes up enough of my guitar-playing & drinking time as it is )I've recently done some sheds ( whoopee ) and have some work @ the mo doin an interactive gym designer, so it would be kinda nice to make something that's actually interesting for me. It would basically involve texture-swapping ( for different inlays/paintjobs ) and mesh-swapping ( for different body-shapes, 6/7string, headstocks etc ) which is stuff I've done before anyway... Anyway, if you want to collaborate on a project like this then let me know... Also you should check out Wirefusion ( www.demicron.com ) cos interactive web3D is now more "doable" & works even for people with regular dial-up rather than broadband. Also it can make stand-alone applications for offline use... I got some examples of web3D stuff on my site if you want a look... |

FWIW, I've always had a strong dislike of that program... I can't quite put my finger on why, exactly, but it probably has to do with all of the threads on jemsite didicated to showing off their "custom jem ideas" done with that thing.

What bothers me about the site is the fact that it lets anyone create a "custom" design, and most of the time it's clear then have no idea what they're doing. Usually the pickups and controls are in the strangest places, etc.
