Alright yall, in case you didnt see in the Sales threads, i tried to put my 1077XL up for trade for an RG7CT, but since i know im not gonna get any bites, heres the question i pose.
Can I just have a replacement body built from Mahogany / Flame Maple, and attach my 1077's neck to it? I know that Id have to give the builder the specs for the neck pocket and how to route for the tremolo, but can anyone else forsee any issues with this? Also, if anyone knows a great replacement body builder who might be able to accomplish this task can you let me know? And also, is there anything else special about the RG7 CT that i would need to include in the body build specs? Thanks again guys. Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL |

The best person to do this is Christopher woods, HOWEVER he's not taking orders so you'll have to wait til he opens the shop again or wait for him to offer it in his store.
Christopher Woods - Custom Guitar and Bass Bodies and Necks. LED Neck. L.E.D. Body. Pickguards. Inlay. CNC design. 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,14 string models. Baritone and extended Scale. He has all the dimensions to make that neck fit perfectly in the custom made body. |

You can most certainly have a replacement body built out of mahogany. However the RG7CT that you want isnt a 27" scale guitar its normal at 25.5". Thus getting a body made and then putting your XL's neck on it wouldnt really be right - however in the end it is oyur choice.
Christopher woods, Sims Custom shop, EKG are some of the names that come to mind for custom bodies. However you have to be lucky enough to get a response back. |

yeah i know about the whole neck thing, what i meant was BODY wise for the RG7CT. I know it will be more satisfying to me to have the custom body built, because then i can have it as a baritone with my extended scale neck from the 1077. What i wanted to make sure from you all her, is that i can tell everything i need to tell the luthier to make the body identical to the body of a CT.
This is what i want the body to look like: ![]() That just looks like solid sex! So what all do i need to tell the luthier in order to get this result? |

^ Hey man that's my guitar

I called Chris Woods the other day about my custom and Chris Woods IS STILL TAKING ORDERS for BODIES ONLY. You cannot order a neck from him but they can still crank out bodies and they gave me an estimated completion time of 3 weeks (That part could have been underestimated). His prices are great. I went elsewhere as I did need neckwork done as well, but go for it. ![]()

Holy Christ on crutches, that wouldve been a perfect body. and looking at the routing, it looks idetical to my 1077, so i guess that your right, theres nothing special routed in it or anything. So my other question is one can he route for the LoPro Edge 7 so i can take it out of my 1077 and put it into the new one? two we established that he can build the bodies, but can he also do that (the pic above this post) finish on the body? God i hope this works out, then id have a RG7 CTXL, lol |
