Should I trade away my Les Paul for a new UV?

About a year ago, I made a thread on jemsite and on here looking to swap my Gibson Les Paul Standard for a UV777BK. I got an email the other day from a guy on jemsite who was willing to trade his new UV from Rich. The only qualms I have about trading the LP is that it was a gift from my father. Also, I'm not really in need of another seven. What do you guys think I should do?

The LP in question:

The UV:

I came close to trading one of my Les Pauls on a few occasions and for various guitars. I couldn't bring myself to do it, LOL.

Keep the LP, put money aside to buy that UV just a bit later.

Don't do it.
Normally I would make that trade in a heartbeat, but being as it was a gift from your father you should keep it. My dad bought me an American Fender Strat and a 1x12 marshall combo. They were both very nice but because I play Metal it just wasn't very good for my needs, so I traded them off for a DIME SLIME and a 5150, which at the time wasn't a bad deal at all, but it just really hurt my dads feelings. He still brings it up every so often. Makes me feel bad.

I would say no, but that's just me...

I prefer my mahogany ibbys to the basswood ones I own/ have played. I'm sure the uni is nice, but I can't imagine it playing any better than your cst. the only thing that puts me off about your cst is the emgs, but if you like emgs, then even-steven.

I had a esp eclipse for a while that I really liked, kind of regret selling it...it was the last sixer I had. just had a completely different vibe than the 7s and the strat shape all together. If you're happy with the cst, then I'd say keep the LP, especially since it has some sentimental value.

707's in the cst right?

You guys are right. My dad gave me the guitar. It's not the right thing to do. I'm going to have to put away some cash and see if this UV is still available in a couple of months.

I haven't seen you here in awhile.

I'm pretty happy with the 707's now. It's just a little annoying to modify my settings specifically for the pickups.

The UV is nice, but a sentimental gift from your Father is even nicer, something not all of us have...

Normally I would say definitely do it because I don't like Les Pauls and UV kick ass, but if the LP was a gift and it's meaningful thing to you than you should probably keep it.
