Should I trade away my Les Paul for a new UV?

Good decision.
1.) Les Pauls pwn most others.

2.) It's a gift from your dad. I have a Schecter V-1 Plus, it was my first nice guitar, I wrote some of my earliest stuff on it. Plus it was a christmas present from my Dad. I'm not getting rid of that thing, even though it's a floyd, even though it's a sixer. I'm keeping it.

Disregard the sentimental aspect and the LP will hold its value much better than the UV over the years. When you're retired and your fingers can't take much abuse anymore it won't matter how great the UV is for playing metal.

i agree with most everyone on here. you can always find a great UV everywhere, for dirt cheap most of the time, but a good les paul is hard to get for under $2K. Kepp the paul, and just play the waiting game.

I also acquired a guitar as a gift from my father, a Mexican made Strat. I still have it after 7 years. I would keep the LP and save for a UV.

You woldn't sell a gift, so i think that you'r not going to trade it either.

I like both guitars, but keep the LP, i think that has a sentimental stuff on it.

I'm pretty happy with the 707's now. It's just a little annoying to modify my settings specifically for the pickups.

I'm around, I've just been posting only on things that really interest me, and staying out of the arguments and such...
