I usually get D'Addario 9-46 sets and put a 60 on the bottom.
Nothing like a good depressant to chase the blues away!

I use to use D'Addario........but they seemed to break quick. I play hard. I switched to Ernie Ball....9's with a 62 to 64 on the low B. They seem to last a bit longer. Not to mention.........that 64 on the bottom gets some awesome snarls & growls!

the 70 i'm using is brutal. that one string cost me about 8 bucks cause it was a bass string. once i got it on my guitar, it was worth paying that much for one string.

Ive said it in a million other threads but still!
.009 - .068 Elixirs (I add a no brand .009 and a wounded.026 to their baritone pack) tuned in A standard on 26.5 guitar. I love the tight low A and the very bendable .009 for the high D.

Whatever strings Noodles uses on his KVK custom V are thick as a mofo! I was attempting to play it and haven't used a gauge that thick in a LONG time, it felt weird like I was playing a thin bass string!

I'm an Elixir fan.
I use the 10-52 packs and a single 68 from juststrings.com. Tuned 1 step down to A-D. I used to use 9-56 in standard tuning, but the 68 in A was a night and day difference in tone, and I'll never go back. |
