Eric, I have had the pleasure of playing that guitar when I was in Osaka and I loved it. Your specs seem a bit off - my catalogue says EMG707 x2 and a maple/wenge/maple/wenge/maple neck.

The two other RG EX guitars are 6 strings with 85's and 81's and are both thru-neck. The RG7EXFX is not, to keep it affordable I suppose. It is 27" - you were right about that.

I would totally grab it. The only reason I did not was because I don't like the newer Ibanez 7 shape - like the 7321, which they seem to be putting on all of their guitars.

Beautiful instrument though.
I will probably have that guitar when I get back from band practice (leaving for band practice in 20 minutes). I will check the specs written on the little card on the guitar when I get there, but I remember that it was RG7EXFX.

When I was playing it, I thought it was an EMG707 but when I got home and checked on 2 seperate Japanese websites, both websites said it was an EMG81 in the bridge and an EMG85 in the neck. It did say in the description that it was the 7-string version of the RG6EXFX.

All the information I posted was taken off of 2 seperate Japanese websites that both had that information written regarding the guitar. Once I get to the store, I'll read over the info on the card. That will be the definitive info. If it says EMG707 like I vaguely remember from yesterday.

I doubt the websites I rad are wrong, but we'll see.

And, anyway, although I complain about my guitar, it isn't anywhere near as slow as ibzrg1570 or some others are making it out to be. The CPU is actually very very fast. The only real disadvantages are the RAM, the diskspace (which isn't too bad, I just have to manage how many games I have installed and stuff like that), and a few other very minor things. Since I will have like $700 left over for a computer after buying the guitar, I'll just have to save for 3-4 months to be able to get a laptop that I want. But I'll still probably save 5-6 months for one.

Your guitar has RAM?

Dude, I promise that it has 707's. The one I played did, because I don't think the 81-7 was out then.

Awesome guitar though. We demand a picstory.

I got the guitar and I want to make a picstory. How do I display the pics as big pics in the thread? Every time I attach picture, they are tiny thumbnails that you have to click on to see. And I don't know of any picture hosting site that will let you hotlink the picture itself. They usually only let you post a link to the site where the picture is hosted.

Let me know how to do it and then I'll post an Ibanez RG7EXFX2-IPT picstory thread.

We were both right and we were both wrong.

You were wrong in that the RG7EXFX does NOT have 707s. I was right that the RG7EXFX has an EMG81 and 85. I was, however, WRONG in that the guitar I wanted was NOT an RG7EXFX. It actually was the RG7EXFX2 that has EMG707s and a maple/wenge neck, which you were referring to.

I was pleased to find that out since I think 707s sound better than 81-7s. And, while I've never liked the sound of EMGs clean on any normal scale guitar I've heard, the EMGs on this guitar sound AMAAAAZING. Probably mainly due to the 27" scale.

Nice.

Photobucket. Post the photos straight up there, and then link to it from there. Underneath each photo you upload there are three boxes - if you click on the bottom one it already has copied it to your clipboard so just go into the appropriate thread on here and ctrl + v it - it already has the [ img ] tags.
