I love neon colors, but that's another stuff.
You'r right on wait you said about the woods, they need to offer more variety of them. I still dig that Ibanez came with some new models this year, the Apex 2 it's very nice, mahogany+hardtail+Dimarzios, that's a "good" guitar ("good" because i didn't try it).

I actually think 2007 is a great year for 7's. We get the loomis model, which is, what? ash? And we get a couple of new mahogany ones for Ibanez, tail end of '06, KxK introduces superstrat shapes in whatever wood you want a excellent price. Schecter comes out with a few new models. Epiphones got their Goth LP7's back, ESP has some badass models as well. Most of them are japan only, but still.

Because of Steve Vai.
The Universe was a superstrat, so it's pretty common now. Plus, the superstrat design is the best. t3h b3st
Whether it's laughable or irrational, this is the path that ALL great men walk!
If there's a wall in our way, we'll destroy it! If there's no road, we'll pave it with our own hands! The magma in our hearts is blazing like flames! Who the hell do you think we are? |

We keep complaining but that's true.
I think there's more coming ahead. I have great hopes for Ibby 100th anniversary. Also, maybe a new 7-string.org strat in the future? |

I like the super strats.
I like the cut, balance and contours of the strat, so it works for me. Different woods would be nice though (as stated before). And yeah, I agree with the niche market thing. Fact: 6 strings sell more than 7's. |

Basically the superstrat shape is the most comfortable to play for the average joe and sells more easily. Look at how many "shape" guitars are for sale in your local guitar shop sompared to Strats, Tele's and Les Pauls.
