*orgasms*
Those pictures are incredible, gecko. The pictures on Musician's Friend and the Schecter site just don't do it any justice. You're pushing me closer and closer. :P Thanks for the feedback Sir Chris. I'll see how the neck pup works for me. I'm not much of a neck lead guy for some reason, so maybe it won't matter. Once I get some cash this is SO mine. |

hellraiser... to be or not to be
hey i thought i would throw in my 2 cents on the Hellraiser!
I've owned my Black Cherry Hellraiser 7 string since September 2006 and i have mixed feelings about her. She is definitely hot. beautiful finish. comfortable to play. i like her very much. but there are a few things i'm a little frustrated by... the guitar itself is noisy in a way that you don't want a guitar to be. the truss rod cover is attached by 1 screw only, so i've been getting some bizarre rattling from that as of late. (you could add more screws i suppose if you are so inclined). Also a HUGE annoyance is that the G string rings in the part of the string between the tuno-matic bridge and the ferrule holes where the strings feed through the body. you hit a chord and mute and a gross ringing sound follows. (upgrading the saddles or placing something across this part of the strings to dampen them would help). I am not sure if this is an issue for anyone else? I haven't noticed anyone writing about it, maybe they haven't noticed? EMGs... do you like the sound of EMGs? because if you buy this guitar, you are pretty much stuck with them. These pickups sound good, but you miss out on some of the options that nice passive pickups give you. Coil tapping for example i wish i could do, but because i have EMGs, No Can Do! there are no replacement pickups for EMGs, (really.. other than the 81-7), so if you don't like them... or over time feel the need to try something different, it will be really inconvenient. you can buy custom pickup rings to mount a passive pickup in, but you will likely have to drill into your baby, and big fat pickup rings look ugly! Overall i think this guitar is pretty sweet. She looks good, and rocks hard. It is relatively inexpensive too. Most of my beefs with it can be tweaked in some way to make the guit better. (minus the pickups- just make sure you aren't like a DIMARZIO/DUNCAN tone nut when you get this guitar, because you will not get that sound here. Strictly EMG) hope my rant wasn't useless! rock on! casey p.s. i've had this guitar set up professionally numerous times- so issues like the ringing G string are not simple fixes! I even had to get the high b string's saddle filed down because it buzzed wierd when i first got it... |

Hmm the truss rod thing is interesting. My other Schecter has one screw on the cover and it rattles none..
And as for the G string thing, is anyone else having this problem? That could be an issue and I want to make sure it's just hopefully a one time thing.. The seven will most likely be a straight up metal guitar. If I feel the need for a more versatile seven, I'll probably do some Carvin-izing. So I'm ok with the EMGs. Thanks for the reply man! |

I don't have the G string ring, and I happen to LOVE my EMG's.
This guitar is great man, you won't be disappointed. My thread (with pics) http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/sev...tml#post532625 |

That's awesome, I've been thinking about a 7 string for a while and after reading all this stuff I'm gonna have to go play one in my GC.
