RG7620 JEM BSB Progress pics...

I figured I'd post progress pics of my current project. I wanted to try my hand at a Burnt Stained Blue finish, so I ordered me up a body and tried it out. There was one spot where there was a little bit of filler, but at least it was on the back. I still have to rub the finish out a bit although I do like the roughness. I wasn't sure if I would add a pickguard or not, so I burnt up the control area a bit too.

Now that I look at it...I'll be adding either a full mirror or smoked mirror pickguard once the matte finish cures. I'll also be adding a blaze single, a 5 way switch and may work on the inlays a bit. Let me know what you think!

Damn nice work

I actually like that shade of blue better than the real BSBs

Funnily enough, I had the paint store mix the color per the spec on projectguitar, but when I stained the body, it was the darker blue. I like this color better as well.

Well done. Any thoughts on clearcoating it, or are you gonna get down with the Smurfing action?

I cleared it with a few coats of minwax "polycrylic" matte, which clouds the finish a bit, but it's not too bad. It may even clear up a lil bit as it cures. No blue shirts for me, haha.

I always liked the BSB Jem... I almost did a BSB makeover on my fugly orange RG550 but decided it wasn't a good enough guitar to keep. Good to see someone's doing this one. You gonna pop out the dot inlays and run in some Phillips head countersink screws? BTW, smoked mirror would be the way to go with the guard.

Yep...I'm planning on doing the phillips head screw thing with a layer of clear epoxy or thin acrylic over it so that dirt doesn't get trapped in the screw head.

Needs more burns on it. 7 Dying Tree's took a blowtorch to his BSB much to the horror of Jemsite, but it looks really cool for it.
