CFBbEbGCF tuning
Gave this a spin this evening... Same principle as Metal Ken's D to G tuning; standard tuning dropped down with an extra high string. String gauges are my usual 9-60 set; I just locked down the bridge with my tremol-no and tuned up.
Sounds amazing! I've mainly been playing rhythm tonight (Schuldiner-ish riffery), so I haven't really explored the possiblities for lead playing yet, but the higher tuning, coupled with the sound of the fixed bridge is perfect for that sort of metal; bright and clear, but absolutely crushing! This is something I'm going to pursue more, although I doubt it'll replace my other tunings. I'd love to try the same tuning arrangement, only tuning to Eb with a high Ab, possibly dropping the Eb down to C# on occasion...
Nothing like a good depressant to chase the blues away!

You're a half-step up from where I'm tuned at right now, it really makes everything "sparkly"
...not really, but it does sound pretty sick \m/ |

I really want to try Eb to Ab.
Whether it's laughable or irrational, this is the path that ALL great men walk!
If there's a wall in our way, we'll destroy it! If there's no road, we'll pave it with our own hands! The magma in our hearts is blazing like flames! Who the hell do you think we are? |

Using the same tuning but dropping the bottom string down to Bb rules as well!

After months of constant efforts I've finally done it! ![]() Ok, to keep my posts somewhat relevant, (and keep them from being deleted) I thought of using a tuning like this a while ago. It would seem to be perfect for someone covering bands with a lot of tunings, just using a capo and going from there. Then, I realized I hate capos, and then the whole idea was screwed, as far as I cared. ![]() Last edited by OzzyC; 06-03-2007 at 02:44 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
