you're one note shy of playing standard tuning (for a 7) up a half step. why leave the G as it is? I've often wondered why I never hear of people tuning up (aside from some open tunings), but i suppose most people who'd want to go higher do just use capos.

-2 -0 -0 -0 -2 -2 -0 If you wanted a Bminor in standard 7 string tuning, you'd have to do -2 -3 -4 -x -2 -2 -0 or something like -2 -3 -4 -4 -2 -2 -0 Or some variation. even if you tuned BEADF#BE, you could use the first shape and its WAAAY easier. |

It's funny you mention that, as I recently had an idea for a 'lute guitar'; a 23.75" scale electric instrument tuned GCFADG (same as standard six-course lute tuning). It would have the fingering advantages of me an MK's new tunings, but also the advantages of a shorter scale (big stretches and bends FTW!!!)...
Nothing like a good depressant to chase the blues away!
