Refinishing a set-neck instrument is kind of a pain and most people dont want a guitar to look like they spraypainted it in a garage. Very few people can refin a guitar on their own and get pro results.

True, which is why if I ever decide to refinish any of my guitars, I'll take them to my dad, who will bring them to his work into the paintshop

I might do something with either my Squier Strat or my Schecter Revenger at some point before I'd ever consider doing anything with the Hellraiser.

But if I did, it'd be a deep trans-blue, or blue-burst


The Strat would look neat in a Silverburst with a mirror pickguard

The Revenger would probably end up something solid, probably a ridiculous, typical metal colour, like blood red. I think it'd look pretty good in this colour:


Btw, if anyone can photoshop a Hellraiser C7 into that "Cayman Blue" colour on that Scorpion, I'll be eternally greatful (I just tried doing it myself and realized that I really suck at photoshop )

I still love the way the black cherry hellraiser looks. Maybe as some of you mentioned, it just might have been that guitar. It sucks because I have been making the rounds at all the guitar stores in the area for the last couple months trying to catch a hellraiser in stock. I'm not quite ready to make a purchase yet so I'll continue to stop in and see if they get more in so I can try another one.

I've played many Schecters before and never really been dissapointed by them. In fact I really like the 007 other than the fact that it comes with duncan designs pickups. I've been really wanting a 7 with EMGs which is why I was looking at the Hellraiser and SC's. At least I know I like the SC's now and can get them for a great price.

Anyway, I need to get a move on trying to unload some of my gear so I can pick up a new axe.

That's weird, I loved the hellraiser when I first picked it up. It wasn't set up well, there was major string buzz (due to the lazy employees at my local GC) but I think if I had the time myself to set it up, I would have taken it home, it felt that good.

I looked at the SC's. I didn't like them, due to the weird hardware placement.

Could be the strings on it too dude. What I would do is tell the people at the store you're considering buying it and you would like to check it out with your preferred gauge/brand of strings on it. Ask them to throw the strings on, and even offer to pay for them. A lot of the times they'll just throw the strings on it for free anyways if you are seriously interested in the guitar. I fucking hate the strings guitars come with most of the time, usually fucking 8's or 9's or something, and who knows how old they are. It's amazing how bad strings can completely ruin the feel of a guitar.

I never said you should like them. i said its silly to write off a guitar based on color.

If the color isn't something I like, I wont be driven to pick up the guitar and play it. For that reason, I dont like black cherry guitars.
