Backup RG7 for tour on the bench today (56k... who has 56k any more?)

So I grabbed some odds and ends that weren't getting used and went down to a local used gear shop today to pick up a guitar that you will see a lot of in the next few minutes. However, it needs a lot of work to put it in Lilu Dallas touring shape. Here we go.

Had to fish around with the cute chick employee in the back for a bit to find a case

Uno

Dos

Tres (Tres includes obligatory SS.org flicking off of something weak)

And were in

Closer

But now we notice that there are several things here that just wont do. All of these things deserve WTFs.

Cliplock WTF (Seriously... white... on a black guitar?)

Crap Ibanez Stock Pickups WTF?

OK. Lets get busy. Have to be at work in two hours so well do about half the shit that needs to be done.
Bye Bye cliplock

Gross strings off, all kinds of tape on.

Nicely polished (Seriously, I do not fuck around when it comes to gross frets)

...Or dry fretboards for that matter

Trem is gross. We will have to tolerate it though (It is a backup after all)

Yuck. Get those pickups out of there. PS - I hate these switches.

Clean and naked.

OK lesson time. Duncan JB7 and 597 that came out of my SRC7 have standard bent ears. Shit Ibanez pickups have straight ears. What to do?

Ive seen this done before when the screws go down too far so I drilled a few recesses and now...

everything fits

Dig it

Strings?

So now I have to solder a few things when I get home but otherwise its pretty close. I need to finish the setup but I have one thing thats weirding me out. The second string saddle on the bridge sits about 1mm lower than the 1st and 3d strings so when I play it feels like the 1st string is way higher than the others. I cant really figure out whats up. Does anyone know how to fix this or has your TRS7 ever done that?

All your shred are belong to us.

thanks dudes. This stuff is actually really easy. Nothing you couldn't learn from reading a few tutorials and buying a few simple tools.

Soudns like the saddles are out of order, the tallest should be in the middle then get progressively lower as you go outwards.

I dig the color. Isn't the TSR-7 replacable with a OFR/Schaller/Gotoh or similar?

Presumably but none of those trems are low profile and I hate having fine tuners that stick way up.
