I'd at least try to check out a Carvin if you haven't played one yet.
I used to own a Hellraiser 7 (loved it BTW) but I missed not having a floyd and I really wanted a maple board, so I went ahead and ordered the Carvin. the Carvin is Shorter scale and a bit thinner (neck profile) than the Schecter necks. It feels very similar (to me anyway) to the neck profile of my Jackson soloist, but with a bit of a flatter fret board. I took to mine immediately and it has become my number one guitar. I play everything on mine from Nevermore/Arch Enemy/Dream Theater to Greg Howe/Vinnie Moore/Satriani/Yngwie/Van Halen etc. to me a good 7 string is something that you can play anything on. The stock pickups are ok for metal (I'm replacing the bridge pickup on Tuesday) but they are actually really good for fusion. With the taps you can get a great range of tones out of these guitars ( I also have two very differently voiced amps (5150/B-52 At 100) so switching back and forth between the amps helps too. I've never played a JP 7 (I have the 6 and it didn't wow me ,but I didn't hate it either)
Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

Yep. We are a sad, week, seven-less country.

-buy some second hand guitars that you know you can sell for in israel for at least what you paid for it, and try it out. If you like it, keep it, otherwise sell it, and then try another one That way you'll get to play them, and try them out properly. If there is a massive shortage of 7 strings, then you'll be more likely to sell them on at either the cost to yourself, or a small profit. That might be the way to settle it. |

It would, the problem is, there is quite a smal community of sirious guitar players, and most of aren't interested in 7 strings. And if they are, they don't have the funds.
There's no place here for sirious people. Everytime sombody tries to sell somthing that costs above 500$ it will stay on sale for months until he gives up because he can't sell it. |

you know that in theory i can buy a new guitar from the US and sell it double priced here? but you know all the shipping and taxes stuff, makes it maybe a 400$ profit maybe. Overall, its a nice idea, but im a guitar player not a buisness man, i wanna play you know, and doing what you have said will make me being busy on selling and buying stuff all the time, and i have to use my parents credit cards and i can buy a guitar from a bad person who didnt show or wrote it has some problems. The only soloution is to fly to the usa, which i did last year, but i would probably not, this year. So im basically gambling lol... but that is not true gambling cause i know what i want and most of the time features and some pics are enough(well you know a j custom is as good guitar without trying it, because its a j custom... i know the cooley will be good for me cause they made it in japan on the j custom factory and i know that when designing that guitar all they had in mind was how to make the most comfy guitar ever.. and im sure they did well). there you go: YouTube - Rusty Cooley you can see here the neck isnt painted, too bad, would look much better to me.
