I would personally go with Carvin.

They are very well made, high quality guitars and they are damn comfortable. The body is nicely rounded, so it really is a very comfortable guitar. Yeah, it takes some time to get one, mine took about 3 months, but it is worth it.

Reading specs isn't like playing the guitar, do you actually need me to spell it out for you?

Or you can do a search for a discontinued Schecter Semi-hollow body Jazz guitar.

The Petrucci isn't comfortable? What in the unholy hell are you talking about? That is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. The comfort cuts are perfect and the bridge is so smooth on the hand. The pickups are great, the neck is great and smooth, the frets are perfect, and the lead sound you get from the bridge pickup is the best I've ever heard myself.. definitely Holdsworthy.
The RC7 on the other hand, has an ebony board (way brighter tone), standard Ibanez style comfort cuts and then a ridiculously carved out horn, painted neck (sticky and slow), a cheap trem, no piezos, and 707s.
I dunno man, but if you want to play jazz, 707s are NOT what you are looking for. You can certainly play the same notes a jazz guy would play, but a lot of that stuff depends on dynamics and subtley and a set of mega compressed EMGs is not going to do it for you.

If you played the guitar for 10 minutes and hated it, well, thats fucked up. It is the best option going. It just sounds like you want an RC7, so you can go ahead and try and buy one (even though they aren't available anywhere).

Dude, you totally fucking nailed what I was going for! I would e-rep you if I could!

Daniel, you say you're coming with an open mind but it seems to be the complete opposite. I didn't say you need to buy the JP7 because you can play it, I mean you should give it another shot, because there's no way in hell this guitar isn't comfortable.

My hands aren't that big... maybe chubby.

And after the bagruyut are over, when I have a life, we'll go back to check that Rivera KR-100 and I'll let you play some more.
