![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Buzzing on a few strings :s ok so i have a buzz on a few open strings, but here's the weird thing: e (0.0105) nothin b (0.014) buzz g (0.018) nothin d (0.028) nothin a (0.038) buzz E (0.049) plenty buzz B (0.062) nothin isnt it weird? i mean, it buzzes a good some on the E, but nothing on the B? its on a 7620. the neck is slightly reliefed, not much tho (i think). no noticable buzz as soon as you fret the first fret, its only on open strings. does anyone know what to do? :| i dont think i can heighten the floyd much more either or it will have a weirdly high angle. Eat Shit. Billions of flies can't be wrong. |

![]() | Where/what is it buzzing at exactly? When you hit an open string, is it buzzing against the 1st fret? I suppose you could try shimming the locking nut. |

You've got your head down You've got your eyes closed You look so pitiful now Your body encrusted with ash Breath heavy with toxins Hair singed and matted Clothes frayed and burnt You are left with nothing |

Yours is locking because it "locks" with the screws and pads. I don't mean to talk to you like you're stupid, I'm just explaining it ![]()

![]() | Yup, the 'passage where the strings cross into the head' seems about right. What you'd do is remove that, and like Ozzy said, add a small piece of say, tinfoil underneath the NUT and put it back together. I'm not sure that makes sense to you... let us know. EDIT: Also, you can check to see if the 1st fret is seated properly. e.g., isn't too high, causing the buzzing to happen. Last edited by dtrax; 05-23-2007 at 01:47 PM. Reason: added more info |

i used a few sheets and gradually removed it until it was perfect take a big pair of scissors and cut out exactly the shape of the nut out of the foil (just put the nut on top) im sure there are other methods extremely low action on my Jackson 6 as a result of this... awesome (of course you can get it high if you want too, just my reason to shim was to get the action as low as possible... if it only buzzes on fret one (which it did for me) all you need to do is raise the nut and you can lower the action at the bridge)
