Actually its just a matter of preference. Lots of metalheads that consider themselves "true metalheads" think that any music without those vocals sucks.

Dude - this is a pure 80's hair metal band set in the 00's

I LOVE IT!!! And I love that its a metal band without a guys who growls or sounds like the "cookie monster"

EDIT: Ah see the monster bit is mentioned before.

I don't think I've ever heard more generic riffing in my life.

I could have sworn I was listening to Tim Owens singing on that. Generic, high pitched wailing (thanks for ruining Iced Earth, Timmy).

Why can't bands these days have singers who have the full range? From the low growls to the highs? These days, I only seem to hear bands that either are A.) Growlers, or B.) Wailers.

I guess it's a good thing Matt Barlow is back on the music scene, and in a prog band no less, because I have missed him so much.

Cool vid, nice to see the guitar in action. Rusty is impressive and so is his band IMO.

Man, I was abso-fucking-lutely blown away by that. I had no idea!

Heavy, technical, and that singer kicks ass. I haven't heard a great high pitched singer like that in YEARS. That dude is fantastic. That song was like 80's hard rock meets modern metal. Fucking terrific!

The thing I try to keep in mind is that the new guy has to, at least somewhat, cover the vocal line of the previous guy. Only at the end did he stretch past what the original was doing. I'm REAL curious to see what the does with the new stuff, methinks that the ending of that video is a glimpse into what we may see on the new Outworld, which is real cool, as I think this guy may be like a more tradition singer, like a Halford, as opposed to the stereotypical, prog-metal-by-way-of-opera style that most progmetal singers end up doing.
