Random Thought on 7 Stringers...

when you think of the Best six string guitars theyre mostly standardised like the jackson soloist , Esp horizon/eclipse, Gibson Les paul ,Fender strat etc..
but when it comes to the best seven stringers.. the signature series seem to rule the bunch, K7 , UV, ESPStef7, EBMM petrucci, Schecter loomis...

No reason for this post just a random thought from someone who's at home alone on a saturday night...

It's probably becauase sevenstrings are known for certian artists that use specifically them, while everyone else plays a Strat, let's say.

Plus it seems like it takes an artist endorsement to get a seven string into production.

I wouldn't say the main 7s when you think about it are signatures. What about the RG7620? Its probably one of the most popular 7s.

Unless Im wrong and it is a sig.

A lot of that is probably because there's so much more of a selection of 6-strings in the first place. Also, signature model 6-strings don't generally really add much of use to the instrument (at least I can't think of any examples off hand.. does anyone remember that The Darkness sig model? Ridiculous.), but for whatever reason, signature model 7-strings do.

I think it's because there's some decent production model 7-strings out there, but 90% of them need the pickups replaced to be considered great, while signature models are designed by actual guitarists, who know what a 7-string should really sound like.

Somewhat in this line of thinking, I actually got approval for a 7 string ESP Kamikaze 1 Custom shop complete with bomb inlays.

ME = taking back signature guitars from the "six string man"
