Don't have anything to add other than what others have said, but that's a seriously bizarre problem. Never heard of anything like that before...

Ok! I have an update. I restringed the guitar but this time I made sure the winds didn't overlap, and I made sure not to bend the string out of shape. This time I have a .056 on tuned to B, and here is the result: dun dun dun! ... http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/9/...tringPitch.wav

Don't have a tuner handy but from listening I think it's okay now? If so: Congrats to both you and me, because now there's no need to get all visual.

Oh come on you're ruining the fun!! lol.... YES I fixed it!! The problem was a combination of the bent string above the nut, and the wraps being overlapped. I can't believe no one knew that, I mean I told everyone I had it wrapped over itself and it had bents but no one said "that's probably why it's out of tune"
I guess that isn't always a problem for everybody, either that or just no one here knew about that yet... well if that's the case... you all do now!!! If someone has my problem check to see if they have the tuning peg with wraps that overlap and/or bent parts of the string that aren't straight. I'm sooo glad that it's all fixed now. I'm tuned up to standard now (which I haven't tuned to in years!!) And this should be fun. Also how about that sustain on that string eh? 30 seconds!! That's without compression or anything, lol, D'addario and string-thru-tone-pros combo rules !!You've all been very helpful, especially you Lethe, thanks for all your suggestions, believe it or not, you got my brain working in ways it probably wouldn't have without your ideas, else I probably wouldn't have even though about the string being bent or overlapped etc. Thanks everyone, if you get a chance listen to that sample through the tuner to see how nice it is now, and that is how the note decay is supposed to look, dropping maybe 2 or 3 cents at the most, not 6-10!! Later, and thanks to everyone!! ![]() |
