I greatly enjoy EMGs, but am getting Lundgrens for my JP7 instead because I could not bear to route it out. But I am curious to see if this RG2027 will go for a price I could justify as my gig guitar... watching the auction

Re-connecting the Piezo's with the EMG's is not an option.
The wiring and the LR Baggs circuit on the 2027 is so component specific that you're in trouble if you try and change anything other than the stock pickups for different 4-conductor passive pickups. It's not like you could even put a set of passives back in the 2027. The guitar needs the VX-91 selector switch and wiring that and the piezo with EMG's to work properly would be next to impossible. So you're basically buying an RG with EMG's and a redundant DE Lo-Pro. The only way to use the Piezo's would be to remove the trem from that guitar and the circuit board (if it's even intact)and put them in another Lo-Pro routed RG7 string along with the correct VX-91 24 contact switch and an extra input jack. Also, you're not gonna' know until you try to re-connect the DE Lo-Pro if the guy has damaged the very fragile single-core wires running to the piezo crystal in each saddle.Apparently if they're broken you can't replace them and it's fucked. Bit of a risky proposition all round.WHY did he even think of putting EMG's in this guitar ? |

That Wes Borland CST used EMGs AND the piezo still worked. And the CST has the same guts as the 2027. Elaborate?

While I agree that he shouldn't have bought the 2027 if he didn't like the Piezo's, but whose to say that he didn't get to try one before he ordered it?
I think the guy had a right to put the EMG's in, i probably would have done the same thing. ![]() And to the guy who left me neg feedback, rock on dude. Way to let me state my opinion. |

Yeah... didn't that Rusty Cooley LACS that Nikt just picked up also have EMGs and piezos? I was pretty sure you could have both... they are essentially individual circuits that can be mixed correct? Preamp inside the pickups for the EMGs and a preamp for the piezo... ![]() ![]() |

There was probably some special wiring in both of those since they were LACS customized guitars. My guess is that if you had a working 2027 you could adapt it for EMGs they just wouldn't be coil splitting.

I'm pretty certain that the piezos no longer worked after the EMG's were installed. From what I remember the toggle switch was even removed when the EMG's were installed.

I agree with everything being said about this guitar being a lost cause and not worth your hard earned American money.
* Scott will buy the first round of beers at sevenfest if he wins this guitar. |

And like Matt said, Rusty Cooley's Ibanez was basically a 2027/CST setup too, but with EMGs. |
