EMG's are a fickle thing. I had them in the Hellraiser and I was totally in love with them in the bridge position, but (imo, of course) in the neck they're just completely lifeless.

EMGs are definitely not garbage. I personally love the 81-7 pickup w/ my VHT, not a fan of the 707. It differs amp to amp though. They do have their faults , but I think the source of people's ill-will has less to do with their tone, and more to do with the fact that 99% of metal newbies with their bronze series Warlocks that think EMGs will be their savior. Then they get an arrogant attitude about it and go around claiming "th3 only w4y to get 31337 metal tone is with EMGS!" and other nonsense. I've seen it countless times, especially when I worked at GC.

It's also kind of a shame when someone carves up a unique/special guitar like a RG2027 to put EMGs in, there's just not much of a reason to buy that guitar if youre going to bypass the natural sound of the guitar and the piezos. My opinion anyways.

The main thing to never forget is its VERY amp dependent. Really all people can do is report how a given pickup reacts through a given rig (including strings and cabinets, etc), making a blanket statement about any of them is a waste of time for the most part. Unless of course it's a DiMarzio Tone Zone 7, in that case the jury is out. Even Jesus knows those are shit

That was kinda my original point. I don't hate EMG, not at all, but too carve up a CST AND disable the piezo ?!??!?!? For that amount of CST cash, you could just retrofitted an RG7 iwth a mahogany body and EMG's, and still had cash leftover AND an unadultered CST.

Certain guitars should be left alone. '57 Strat's, Purple Dragon PRS's, and Ibanez CST's, to name a few.

Actually I don't care that the guys routed it for EMGs. What I care about is that someone went to the trouble of getting a relatively scarce guitar with piezos and had them pulled, probably fucking something up in the process. If you wanted a guitar without piezos why get a 2027? It makes no sense...
