Yea, I saw this the other day. Pretty dam sad really. Not only did he disconnect the piezos, but installed EMG's, which sound sterile and lifeless through clean channels. Such a waste...

I dunno, I bet you could reinstall the piezos with the EMGs, assuming the piezo circuitry is still in good shape (it's supposed to ship with the guitar, according to the seller). In terms of wiring, EMGs aren't *that* different from regular pickups, and the piezo system is basically a parallel circuit path that shouldn't be affected by what is happening with the magnetic pickups. You'd probably need a schematic, though, and enough knowledge of wiring to recreate a slightly different setup.

Of course, you could also go to fretsonthenet and get those pickup rings that allow you to install passives in an EMG rout.

And no, I'm not planning to bid on this one.

this guitar is pretty damned cheap right now for an EMGed RG7 anyway...
no i dont have the money to bid right now

707s are worth what 80-100 alone. plus install?

for that price, even for 500, it makes sense to get the guitar and not expect the piezos to work...

if you somehow can get the piezos to work that will value it up about a grand maybe a little less...
then you could resell it...

It wasn't me who left you feedback, but considering your comment was "you guys are the ones who should be looked down on," I can hardly fault the dude. Expressing opinions is cool - insulting people is less so.

And to beat a dead horse, it's theoretically possible - the LACS guys aren't magicians, so if they can run EMG's and peizos, then I suspect you or I can as well.

no it doesn't. the VLX-91 is a passive switch, just like any other. you could run a 3-way blade switch, or a Strat 5-way, or even a bedroom light switch in a 2027/CST, and everything would still work fine.

the blending of magnetic pickups and piezos can be tricky if the outputs aren't in the same impedance range--that's the same issue as with actives and passives on the same guitar. but that's easily fixed by adjusting the output of the piezos or putting a preamp in-line after the magnetics.

I'll let you all know when it arrives if it will work with the piezo's.

And yeah, the guitar is going to go for much more than the current price.

People are a bit trigger happy when it comes to the neg reps anyway. Don't worry about it.
