That combo slays in mahogany bodied guitars. Then once you've got those in the 2027 you can sell it to me

I think a Duncan JB and Jazz combo would be superhappy in that guitar. Pretty sweet.

I know what you mean about trying to thin the herd a bit. I've thought about it many times, but i just can't do it. Although i do play the JP7 90% of the time, i like having all these other different sevens for use in the studio. As versatile as it is, the JP7 just won't sound like a mahogany set-neck guitar or a Masonite bodied guitar with lipstick tube pickups.

Could be, I don't know. I got this off Jemsite from a really nice fellow named Castle something or other.

Sorry my friend this one is staying put. Simply put, unless somebody makes a 2027 neck through some time soon this is as close as I've ever come to my ideal guitar.

My problem is I try to convince myself that I need a new guitar for "sonic" possibilities but the truth is I don't actually use them. I'm one of those guys that likes that old worn in pair of shoes type guitar that plays the same one until it fall apart.

The only way I'd add another guitar to my collection would be if it did fit a specific tonal need, like a seven string strat or something. Now that I'm a seven string only guy it really helps keep the gas down as I'm not a huge basswood body fan and once you take all sixes and basswood sevens off the table the "sonic" possibilities slim down a whole lot.

I need two guitars live and the S7320 makes a monster backup. It's crazy how you can do alt tunings without the bridge going all fuckered.

I'm the same.
But like Darren said, after a while I find myself being attached to some of them. And as much as I try I just can't let some of them go. I like having two electrics the same as you though, even if it's just for "rotation" purposes. But anything more than two, and they just end-up being stored in the case until I usually sell them on.

Nice collection btw.

The Air Norton is really happy in the neck of the RG2027.

The D Sonic 7 works really well in the bridge. I like it more than the JB-7, which is cool, but has some issues. If you could get Steve Blucher to make you a copy of my prototype D Sonic 7, you'd probably be very happy.

I may very well sell them. The Blaze is pretty cool but the Evo 7 is a totally different approach to pickups than I'm used to. I'm more used to the SS/Blaze/Petrucci custom sound at the bridge. The Evo has a whole lot more mids so it's kind of foreign to me. I don't hate it, it's just kind of weird. I'm loving it for lead work though. Combined with the mahogany it's a very warm rich sound.
