Alright, so I'm finishing up high-school and my parents are probably gonna give me a whop of cash as a graduation present... So I thought I'd put that money to good use and get what I need once and for all! I'm getting the Zoom G9 pedal and a Radial Tonebone HotBritish OD...
Now I'm just torn apart at the guitar part... Bear in mind, I'm a rythm player and so I don't need a paperthin neck to shred fucking all over the place... I'm looking for a really fat and thick saturated distortion with a good amount of treble and I'll be tuning in C and possibly dropping the B cord... A good example of the sound I'm looking for is System of a Down - Steal this Album So far here's what I've got... Schecter C7 Hellraiser: Pros: Amazing looks, nice and big comfy neck for rythm playing, loaded with EMGs for that big raw chunky high-gain sound, string-thru-body stability and 26.5 scale for my C tuning Cons: Compression and sterility of EMGs, first time use of EMGs, Korean guitar, half-assed cleans(?), cheap grover tuners... Schecter C7 Blackjack: Pros: Pretty much the same as Hellraiser, Coil-Splitting, better cleans Cons: Less rawness and chunkyness, farty '59 (kinda), boring black, 1 less tone knob, cheap grover tuners, maple neck ESP LTD SC-607B: Pros: Full Baritone length, flatter neck, EMG 81-7 Set, Reverse HS (I'm a sucker for these!), Schaller Locking tuners.... Cons: Mid pup apparently kinda useless, not full mahogany, much pricier than the others, same worries about EMGs... Ibanez RG1527 Pros: Absolutely Amazing quality and craftsmanship, Great Trem, Coil-Splitting, amazing neck, neutral and clean sounding wood Cons: Gay color, trem might pose problems for C tuning, regular 25.5 scale, High action because of trem, mediocre pickups, never had much experience with basswood might not be best for big fat rythm, maple neck... Ibanez MMM1 (would mod it with APC pups) Pros: Absolutely gorgeous guitar, full baritone scale 28'', great hardware, crazy chukyness and low-end, amazing note definition, retarded sustain... Cons: Bridge is great but dosen't go super low, stocks pups are on the muddy side with heavy gain, easily scratchable... Biggest flaw... 6 strings...
Up the shut fuck, you must.

only thing i can really comment on is the sc-607b and it's pickup placement. only having had my 207 for a few days, i've already found allot of uses for the middle. it might not be a 'typical' pickup and placement, but i've gotten some nice tones out of it, both semi-gritty and fully distorted. only problem is it might get in the way of your picking. i've dropped it a bit, and it's still allot to get used to.

lolCheck out the hellraiser dude, I played one recently and you pretty much forget its korean as soon as you hold it in your hands... chunky rhythm sound and really fast neck for the size... all at a great price! ![]() ![]() |

If you're just tuning down to C or maybe B, the scale length really shouldn't be of much concern to you unless you like to use really thin strings. I tune to C/Drop-Bb on a 25.5" scale on a medium 7 set, and the strings are very tight. Also, Grover tuners are actually pretty good. I like the Grovers on my $200 acoustic more than I like the Gotohs on my Ibbies.

Btw -have found that in general guitars with properly set up trems tend to have lower action than tonepro bridges.

I can set up my trems to make the action pretty damn low,low enough to where its not really playable and i have them set up for A standard so drop c should be no problem...

I'd go with either the RG1527 or the Hellraiser.
And isn't the MM1 a baritone sixstring? |

I've owned all of those 7s, and played the MMM1, and the ESP SC607B by far is of the highest quality IMO. The neck, fretwork, setup, etc is flawless. It sounds great and has top notch hardware and electronics as well. Easy choice for me.
