Played a Fernandes Revolver 7 baritone today .. and

my god it fels like a huge instrument... maybe takes a while to get used to or something but the neck was ultra thick... and the shop put on some huge frickin strings it felt like a damn bass... not a bad tone out of the high strings from the EMG 707's ( was playing thru a roland cube) but wow the strings were too thick to call them strings more like Metal rods...

this is the first time i played a baritone scale.. maybe its wierd for me but the last time i played a 7 it was an ESP h 307 standard scale and it felt a lot better than this... it looked gorgeous tho.. useless for cleans.. on another note i tried loads of fernandes guitars and i thought they're very well built and great sounding instruments for the price.. apart from that 7

I think the other guitarist(not John) from Interlock uses this guitar.

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.

i think the shop setup ruined the total experience of this guitar for me.. why do you need to put such thick strings on a Baritone.. the intonation was way off on the low strings .... the damn G string was wound.and most of them unbendable.. some people think baritone guitars need thicker strings when thinner strings actually serve it better

Do a search on the registry for "Fernandes", you'll find some more details on it there. It sounds like they had it tuned up from the standard factory tuning.

I had a talk with the Fernandes folks this past winter NAMM. They're saying that they've constantly had to clarify that this axe is a "baritone guitar". Not a guitar with a "baritone scale".

"...you can't be pure."

Wow...I was not previously aware of it being set up for a low F# tuning. Neat

You are correct, Chris does indeed own one of these. I'll be getting his thoughts on it (and hopefully playing it) after they get back from their tour. Interesting to hear it's designed for F# tuning though.

If you get a chance to try it out. Can you see if he's been able to change the original set of strings with another brand/gauge? Because other than the stock D'Addario set, I haven't been able to find anything long enough to fit it.

NeglectedField is on a distinguished road
If I had the money I'd get it and stick it in Devy-style G + Open C tuning.
