i have a question about my 7321. It has two pickups, but the pickup selector has five settings. i'm sure of setting 1, 3, and 5, but what about 2 and 4? What are the second and fourth positions?

I'm thinking that splits the coils in the humbucker you have selected, giving it that brighter twangier tone. Most guitars with this feature are over 500$.

It's called Split coil.

I think there is a diagram in the Ibanez site somewhere. Basically:

1) Bridge pickup in series
2) Both pickups split (neck facing coils)
3) Both pickups in series
4) Neck pickup in parallel
5) Neck pickup in series

This is a truly great feature. 2nd and 4th positions are uber-useful on the clean channel. Splitting and parallel modes don't work with actives though.

thanks a lot! it really does add a lot when playing cleanly

i was messing around with the 2nd position (both pickups in split) and it sounds really metallic. it sounds really cool when you slap and pop the strings like a bass! i'm having so much fun

i threw around the idea of getting a 7321, but it strikes me as a more cheaper 7, and i'd rather wait and not settle then get a 7321 and settle. what amp you playin through?

im lookin at schecter C-7's and the ibanez S7320

3 cheers for free gear!

my 7321 feels like a high quality guitar. the neck feels great, and the pickups have a nice tone. i'm playing through a marshall mg30, and i'm really loving it.

i'm not in the least bit disappointed. i would suggest taking a trip to a music store to give it a shot, but not many shops carry seven strings (at least around where I live)

Close, except your number 2 is actually the inside coils of each pickup, not the coils closest to the neck.

I love that position.
