It would look badass to do a transparent candy apple red over a black burst. I really want to see some nice grain pattern though. Being as the 1527 is basswood wouldnt look like what I want to see. So was thinking of getting a replacement body. I was thinking a nice grainy piece of alder or maybe ash. I don't want a figured top, thats not the look I'm tryin to achieve. Opinions?
A replacement body for a J Craft Ibanez? Mmm-kay...

Try this one: take a cheap rg-style body. Strip it, or buy it already stripped. Then grind it. Smash it. Burn it. Bump it. Throw it in the air. Do all this things wisely, of course...just to add a "relic" look to your guitar.
Then coat it with transparent, rebuild your guitar with that body et voilą: you'll own the first RG 1527 SUF (super used finish).

Ok, maybe a bad idea. But for sure must be funny

being as it is already a basswood body that makes it just like any other RG, besides the prestige neck.

An ash body would fucking rule with a trans finish, ash is such an amazing looking wood, just to convince you here are some pics:

yea that is totally badass, I think thats what I may do.

Yeah, Jeff's H207 is sexy. I really like the royal blue finish though, i've always liked that color but a trans red with a black burst would look nice too.

Mmm... I did actually think those were the same

J Craft is supposed to be their best production facility, so what exactly is the difference of a J Custom?

Are they made by Hoshino Gakki or something!?

EDIT: Oh...

http://www.jemsite.com/jcustom/rg8127f_2005/index.htm

After seeing this, and knowing they don't make ANYTHING like this anymore, I actually want to cry a bit

J Customs are teh super-smexy ones that are actually made by hand or something along those lines basically as custom as Ibanez can get, they look awesome. I'm pretty sure both of these are j-customs

blue looks awesome too
