Word. The only 7 I have thats in a usual 7 string type tuning (with the 7th as a lower string) has 10-56 at drop Ab. Its a little loose, but it djents like none other. I should probably go with 11s at some point.

I use either 9-12-16-24-32-44-58 (baritone) or just 10-56 (25.5) in A standard tuning.

I try to use sets in accordance with optimal tension. They sound and feel better when the tension is fairly even. With most standard sets, the gauges are pretty random and ill-concieved so I try to use custom sets from JustStrings.com. I sometimes use a regular 10-56 and sacrifice simply because my favorite strings (Elixir) don't offer a 44 or anything between 56-68.

I love beefy strings. I find they sound better, and my picking is a lot better on them. I use 3 mm picks too, so when I use skinny strings I just seem to get caught up on them. I use 11-70 and tune anywheres from B standard to A standard on my 7's. I used to use 13's on my 6 and tune to E standard and I loved it, but when I first got my 7's, all I could find in the stores around here for 7 string sets was 9's. So after getting used to that, I found out about shopping for strings online, and got my 11-70 sets. I just bought a 10 gauge optimum tension set so I'm going to try that out and see how that works out for me.

You mean 10-13.5-17-26-36-49-66 (or 48-64)? If you do like beefy strings that would be the way to go certainly. Makes more sense than a 11-70 set

You know I've been looking at that, and wondering how Elixir's bass strings would work out on a guitar as they make 60 and 65 bass strings.
