Is everyone here using enormous strings?

I used to be the heavy string brigade too (10-68 in B!) but when I got my RG8427F (which came with 9-54's natch) I found I could play all the Dino riffing and the fast leads on the same guitar. So now all my guitars have 9's and I couldn't be happier!

I was using 10's, but the 9's are juuuuust right.

9-54? i might have to try that, i always have 9-52 but the B is juuuuust a wee bit too slack. It's nice though, i think lighter gauges give u a heavier tone because there's more resonance cause they flap about more. Im quite comfortable playing tight fast rhythms on light gauges too. i bend and give alot of blues feel to my playing though, and i need thins for that personally

9,11,16,26,36,46,56 for standard and 1/2 step down

10,13,17,28,38,48,58 for 1 whole step down

So far i've found that I get the same tonality, more comfortable bends and picking, and when I palm mute, the Eb and Bb decay quicly giving me a tight, clear crunch. But the 9-54 setup has solved that. Now I just need to adjust the neck a bit and I think i've finally found the right string size for me.

my favorite strings are the ones that make me play like a god... but I haven't found those yet :P

In all seriousness my personal preference is 10-60... so if I wish to go down half a step and keep the same tension I gotta go what, 11-64?

Those'll feel more tense than what you're using.

I used to use 9-52, but then decided to go back to Standard A tuning. So now I use 10-58.

that's a ridiculously top heavy set of strings. The treble strings have WAY more tension than the bass strings...
