i have always used my .008's and they fly, so much faster than thicker ones, of course they are a little more difficult to hold on to for vibrato, but i touch very very lightly, in my opinion thicker strings are easier to play with but you have to tune them so much tighter you cant do as much fun stuff with them, when you put a .008 set on a floyd rose style trem, you can bend till mama and the cows come home

I use 10-60 on my Hellraiser, but only because of the longer scale.

On any other 7 string guitar I would probably use something like 11-68.

I've used .008 gauge sets with 26.5" scale Schecters before. Basically, you get the same string tension tuned down 1/2 step as you would on a 25.5" scale guitar tuned to standard. It's actually not a bad option for a second guitar, though I have injury issues myself and prefer 25.5" scale guitars.

I may have to check those out. Though that would mean I would have to do a new setup on my guitar since I would be going down in guage from an 85.

I'm just far too lazy to do that any time soon.
