C- standard seven tuning
i was wondering how well my idea of this tuning would work and if it was doable on a floyded seven string
im using the Gio right now for the B standard stuff but it is just a little too low for me... on the other hand i feel like i run out of range on a six tuned to C standard i know high A floyded on a 25.5" scale is too high not to break even with an eight but what about CFBEACF... sort of like seven string tuned up a step... it will sound like C standard but with more upper range maybe using a .08 for the top string (i dont want to get into custom gauges) what do you guys think? |

Should work. I don't see why it wouldn't. As long as you use the correct string gauges.

I've thought of using this tuning for awhile. I think it'll be great!

It worked very well for me with my WG587 (my tuning testing machine) with a standard 9-54 set. You should have no issues at all with those strings at that tuning.

Some of those strings are only a half step up as you have it written. I use DADGBEG right now but wouldn't mind trying CGCFADG at some point.

i could go high A with .05. But I think that this might be a good way to get that extended range on both sides of the grand staff and still not break strings all the time... so string gauge recommendations? i want to have the feel of nines at b standard or Bb standard. damned halfsteps im a moron... CGCFADG it was and you guys dont think an eight will rip when i abuse the shit out of the trem bar? |

I've been using a 7421 tuned C-F-Bb-Eb-G-C-F for about two and a half years now with no problems. I'm currently using a 10-59 set, and everything is peachy keen!
