Ibanez S7420??

How good are the Ibanez S7420s? I'm trying to find a new seven string (my first ever with a trem) and passive pickups and I either don't like the nice ones (universe) or they can't be had within six months in Canada (JP7). I actually like the way the S7420 looks, especially the gloss black one, and I hear the necks are a little fatter then most Ibanez 7s so it might work for me.

How good are they really? How is the bridge? It looks kind of delicate.. the stock pups? The fit and finish?

I played the S470, and it's very good, nice weight, balance, shape and nice high fret access.

The S7420s are great guitars. The trems aren't bad, but if you're a huge trem abuser you can swap it out for an OFR7 without any problems. The necks aren't really thicker than any of the other Ibanez 7s I've played, but they are really comfortable. They only came in two colors, the blue flame maple and the black pearl.

I can't really comment on the new S7320s that came out this year as I haven't had a chance to play one yet.

They're one of the best 7 under 1000$ e-v-e-r. End of story.

Bridge is ok to me, does the job. I'm a "medium" trem user.
Bridge stock pick up is shit. Neck is ok.
Tried a new 7320 and i prefer my S7420.
Especially the neck. The new ones are too paper thin for me.

Everything else is
But keep in mind it's all a question of taste.

I just got my S7420 yesterday, and so far it's love at first note. It just feels right.

I'd get the new S7320 with the ZR trem - it's a brilliant trem design with great features.

The S7420's are excellent guitars - you should buy the one I have for sale. No but in all serious I LOVE how they feel and play, they have my fav neck of all time a thin C shape, and the mahogany sounds amazing and it's just completely awesome.

Fuck it, you only live once!

I love mine. I sold my '98 UV777BK to acquire it and it was the last to leave the factory (or so I was told ). I've had it for almost 5 years and it's still pristine.

Just look at how many people on this board own one! Seriously, half the S7420's ibanez ever produced are owned by members of this board
