Need Opinions-JP EBMM 7 or Ibanez RG8427BX?

Hey guys-looking to pickup a high end 7 string & I'm not really interested in going the custom route-I'm trying to decide between a JP EBMM 7 or an Ibanez JC RG8427BX-I'm just looking for everybody's input either way on either model-let me know what you think!

Thanks!

They're both great guitars, it boils down to personal preference

1) which body wood do you like better tone wise
2) do you want piezos
3) do you want color options or black flame maple
4) which inlays do you like better

Personally I just got a JP7 and it's a fantastic guitar, but I bought it for a number of specific reasons including I already have a mahogany body/maple top guitar in the works so I wanted a basswood guitar and I wanted something with a trem with piezos.

I'd go with a JP7. I don't like the inlays on the Ibanez and well I'd get dots on the JP7. But the JP7 can be loaded with a piezo and has more options for colors.

Well if you're looking at super high-end stuff, you might be able to order one of these as well: http://espguitars.co.jp/original/m7/index.htm, it has 666mm scale length \m/ (I hate V-shape necks though, you could probably get it changed though).

Just expanding your options, out of the EBMM and the Ibanez...that's a tough decision, I'd go for the Ibanez simply because it looks cleaner imo. I haven't played either and can't really say more than that both are superb.

Thanks for the opinions so far-I have a UV777BK and love it, so I know I'd like the Ibanez JC-I've heard so many good things about the JP EBMM (and I'm a huge Petrucci fan), although I've never actually played one......I love the piezos-this is one JP I am considering: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0773&rd=1&rd=1

otherwise, I'll go with an Ikebe J Custom-I love the black flame and the inlays are cool, but then again, the JP is a nice black/gold combo (I'm arguing with myself aren't I.. ..) I think I'll call some local shops tomorrow & try to find a JP 7 and actually play it before deciding.....thanks again for the input-keep it coming!!

I prefer my JC over the JP7 I had...I had small issues with the control placement on the JP7, but it was absolutely an awesome guitar, my fav bridge pup I've ever played

I haven't had a chance to play one lately, the body woods are dif now I think?

I would think the neck on the JC would be slightly thicker than the JP7 also

Oh man, i know just what you're going through. I just finally cured my JP7 Gas and bought one. Just feel the neck on a JP, it really feels wonderful and silky smooth. Fretwork is excellent. Always a nice log of birdseye maple is used for the high-end JP's necks. The finsh work is also superb.

Trust me. Just sit down and try one. I sold two nice Ibbys for mine, I thought it was that good. And the piezos sound gorgeous in stereo.

*Wants a JP*

Wouldn't trade my 2027 for one. But I'm greedy. I want both.

Forgive the ignorance on this, but I assume you need to plug the JP into 2 seperate amps, right?

If i had to chooce, mmmm, difficult answer, 'cause i never played a RG8427BX, but yes the EBMM JP7, and it rocks. I think that both are exellent guitars, but you have diferent options on both.
