My woeful apology...

hey guys, over the last week i have been setting up my guitars and came across the situation where it seemed a neck shim was appropiate , a small shim on each s7 and boom, it fixed the little bit of extra high action on the last half of the fretboard, i was knockin the shimmin thing, but, apperently some of you who told me that it was a normal solution were right, i'm man enough to admit my fault. but i did try it soley based on some of you saying it was a normal practice , anyway, thanks

I know you sometimes feel like we're talking down to you here, but that's not the case - we much rather have you learn from our mistakes instead of your own. Experience is the key - if it can be bent, broken, folded, spindled, or mutilated on a guitar, I've probably done it - and if I haven't, Dave, Vince, Jerich, Kevan or someone else here has.

Yeah it's a totally normal procedure. I learned most of the shit I know from this book many many years ago and highly recommend it:

I have shimmed the neck on my Ibanez and it helps a lot. It just plays a lot better. Funny thing is, I was afraid to take the neck off my old cheapo LTD (and that thing really needed a good shim), but I had no trouble taking it off my way more expensive Ibanez.

My 1570 definitely needs a shim, just have to get round to doing it.
