How long does it take to get an email back from Christopher Woods?
I'm sure he's a busy guy but I've emailed him twice in the last 3 weeks or so and never got a response! Does he normally answer quicker? I need him to build me a body!

I emailed him about aweek ago to get a quote on a custom build and never heard back from him. That sucks since I took the time to fill out his spec/detail sheet and write him an email.
I`ve noticed this in a lot of custom builders that I have attempted to contact. Not a good first impression. He`s probably swamped with work. Still though, he could at least let you know he received the inquirey. IMO, the internet has totally fucked the traditional relationship between custom craftsmen and their customers. Eric

It all depends if he's just made something that he thinks he can get instant cash off you for. He's real fuckin' fast to reply then
That may have been slightly below the belt......but nonetheless true. He did it with that 'speed guitar' neck-thru 7 the other week.Man,he was all over this site and Jemsite trying to sell it, and then it ended up on ebay. And the same with that RGA7 body the other week. He posted about it here and there was quite a bit of interest and i emailed him to ask about making one with different options and he replied in literally 2 minutes!!!! He obviously tried to sell me that one,and tried, and tried. What annoys me is that he already had an order that was a good few months old for an RGA 7 body and before he'd done that one he's trying to sell one for 'new' cash.He tried to say that it was the one for the guy from here that ordered (and i think paid) for his RGA body but that he'd routed it for a trem by mistake so he was selling it on. He does awesome work but,as with too many of these luthiers, they've got no idea how to do business in a way that is sustainable. Why the fuck doesn't he employ a couple of people and really get the stuff coming out of there. He could be coining it in if he did it that way. There's ALWAYS people who want good quality necks and bodies, particularly Ibanez style ones, and he can make them but he seems to take people's money and then doesn't do their orders so he's got loads of work that he can't be arsed to do because he won't get any money at the end of it (because he had it all at the beginning and fuckin' spent it!). It's a real shame! ![]() |

I sent him one last week, it only took about 1.75 days :p Then again it was a general question asking what exactly are the CNC programmed Inlay/Body options he had (outside of the obvious RG/Vine of Life.
Then he said he was updating the site to do that, next day the site had it for the LED/Inlay portion. He said for bodies it's pretty much whatever there's a picture off. Which at this point I think is only, RG/JEM, Telecaster, JS, and that one with the F holes. I'm hoping soon for the ones in the coming soon pick (LP/RR/etc) |

Have you seen his Current Orders and Orders lists? He is booked for well into the future. And none of those orders include the Speed Guitars. If he stopped answering these general inquiries, I think that'd be a godsend.

It's Christopher Woods the unique that builds RGs? You have a lot of luthiers on USA, but all people here wants CW work.

jtm45 hit on an important point. There are a lot of talented people out there who make good guitars, amps, pickups or whatever but they are shitty businessmen. If you want to get your business off of the ground you at least have to give customers the courtesy of returning calls, e-mails etc. Even if it's simply, "we're too backlogged to take new orders" it's something and leaves a good impression with the customer. Not responding just pisses them off and has them shopping elsewhere and reccomending their friends do the same.
The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music.

From what he told me one day, he said he can sit and answer a ton of emails one day or build guitars.
