Hellraiser C7 question

So, I was playing my new C7 quite a lot yesterday and I noticed one odd thing that is different than other guitars I've played...

So, the C7 has two volumes (for neck and bridge pick-ups) and one tone control and a 3-way switch.

I switch to the neck pick-up, turn both volumes down and no sound. Duh. Turn up the bridge volume and no sound. Duh again. Turn up the neck volume: glorious sound. And the reverse is true of the bridge pick-up. No surprises there.

Now, when I go to the center switch position, only the neck volume control is active and the bridge volume does nothing. Is this the way it is supposed to be?

I ask this perhaps dumb-sounding question as I've played other guitars in the past where you were able to control the volume of the two pick-ups independently when both were outputing and it gave interesting tonal possibilities.

Regardless, I am LOVING my C7!

the devil is in the details

My old Hellraiser was wired that way too - the "neck" volume covered positions 1 and 2 on the three-way selector, with the bridge on 3.

I just figured it had something to do with the way EMG's are, though. I'd have preferred to be able to do blends in position 2, but maybe there's a reason.
