What shops are doing refins now?

I know SIMS does refin work but I think he is out of commission right now. Are there other shops that will do a DY refin for around $200?

All your shred are belong to us.

Jeremy at LGM does some good refinishing work.
I think you' only get a basic solid (non-metallic etc.)colour for around $200.
He used to do a lot more on the actual guitar building side of things but these days he's concentrating on the paint.

Drop him an email and see what he says.

A bold statement indeed
It depends what type of result you want.Matte/Flat finishes are straightforward enough but if you want a professional high-gloss finish, unless you really know what you're doing,it can end up looking pretty sad, especially if it's an expensive guitar that you want refinishing.

The SIMS custom shop isn't out of commission. He had to have brain surgery, but has recently started taking orders again.

Patrick at Sims will be back at work within the next 2 weeks barring any further complications. For my money he is the best there is at clearcoats, dyes, and custom graphics.

Word. I noticed the website was updated and I sent a followup email to an earlier one. I may end up sending this body out this week if he replies and will take my order. Anyone know what his wait times are? Im also glad that he will deal with the stripping and prep work which is a pain on Ibanez bodies.

I have tried DIY painting a few times before and it never comes out smooth and glossy for me. If I used the neon paint I have seen I will have to clear as well. I can get good furniture grade lacquer which worked well in the past but I really want a pro finish, not something that looks like it was done in a garage.

He is a little backlogged because of the surgery recently but I have never had him take more than 4-5 weeks from stripping/sealing to finished clearcoat. He will absolutley make sure it is fully dry before he ships, so most of that time is simply drying time not because he cant go any faster. You will not smell any paint at all when you open the box and that is a good thing, it means your finish is fully hardened and durable.

He is finishing a custom UV for me now, and about to refinish a 540S7 when he is back up to speed.
