Like much of the guitar world, they seem to be sadly misinformed about the status of seven string guitars and the guitarists who play them. I've replied to their latest post to try and enlighten them.

Warmoth answers any request that is not cookie cutter with the same strong arm response. Do not feel slighted, I have been buying from them for years. I posted my thoughts on the thread over there.
Keep hammering him with posts over there if you can. That little board gets so few posts is kinda sad. Just by comparison our thread over there is mediumish in size and it just broke two pages lol. Last edited by eelblack2; 04-06-2007 at 10:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I don't see a problem here. You have a couple of options, baritone or guitar scale. You going to razz them over ½ an inch? Who came up this imaginary boundry for 7 scale length, that 25½" is as low you can go? PRS made one at 25", Epiphone made one at 24¾". Aren't Carvin's 25"? I guess I'm not sure about their 7's. Personally, the 25" scale length is what is attracting me to Warmoth. Maple fretboard? Hello? Where else can you get a relatively cheap 7 with a maple fretboard? (That doesn't look like a clown would play it - UV777GR)
They are not far removed from what Carvin is, which is you get a plate of options. They are not a true CUSTOM guitar maker. Do people bitch up & down about Carvin? I have ruled out a Carvin 7 because, even though you get a plate of options you are still forced to use their pickups and are limited to 3 radii, are their electronics options. With a Warmoth I can wire it any way I want, with any pickups, and can get radii from 9" to 16" or compound combinations of two numbers therein. |

Choice of headstock and body styles would be a plus.

I want a 7 string strat and/or tele plain and simple - and that means 25.5 scale. A guitar with any other scale does not feel Fendery enough to me in this situation. I love my 24.75 Gibsons for what they are, love my 25 Warmoth 7 for what it is, love my 25.5 Ibanez 6's and 7's, but they are still not substitutes for a Fender strat-like 7 string neck in my herd - the feel is totally different. (Not to mention Vintage Fender FB radius and back of neck 50's V shape Id go coocoo for coco puffs over.)
