I just saw that, Dave - definitely. I'll go post up to that effect.

That'd probably be a good deal for Ibanez too, because they'd obviously get a royalty on every one, which is more than they get from all the little guys making Ibanez knock-off stuff.

^ It sounds like it will be the same kind of deal they have with Fender.

I wonder if it'll be necks only or if they'll be offering a limited selection of bodies as well. It makes a lot of business sense for them, actually... there's a lot of demand from people who want different wood and inlay options, which Ibanez just can't offer. Better to get a few bucks per body/neck rather than the zero bucks they're currently getting from the guys making RG knock-offs.

Although if this happens, it could put a lot of the smaller guys out of business.

They still offer a Bari 7 neck, but it's grouped with their Baritone necks.

Just posted as well.

I thought it was funny that the first response in the thread came from a Warmoth sales rep, thinking he was going to shut down the whole discussion by saying, "We can't make one if we don't have something to base it on."

I wonder what their next response will be...

don't do it! the Squier neck heel and neck pocket are _not_ standard Strat length. if Warmoth goes to all the trouble of tooling up to make 7-string strat or tele parts, they should use the standard Strat-scale neck heel and neck pocket length that pre-AANJ Ibanez, Aria, AllParts, WD, and everyone else is using.

exactly--nicely done. Warmoth has gigabytes of CAD files for fender necks and bodies; they could easily mod one to 7-string width. the excuse that they don't have a guitar to copy to make 7-string fender parts doesn't hold water.

dammit! i just wrote a long post over there, with the nut and neck heel widths for standard 22-fret 7-strings, but the damn board wouldn't take my login. bastards.

Posted. I hope this turns into something, it'd be great to have Warmoth as a viable 7-string option
