The ESP Carpenter 7 has come and gone...

... to the shop to be intonated for a higher tuning since I dont have anything but digital tuners. The guitar otherwise is fantastic. I dont have any photos yet because it came in at 9:15 a.m. and I decided to skip class to open it and check it out. At first glance it was perfect. A nice thin c-shaped neck with a clean shiny ebony board. The strings, however were about a year old and felt sickening to touch. The frets had visible corrosion blobs. Cue the masking tape, Dillinger Escape Plan, and steel wool. Half an hour later a fresh set of GHS 9 1/2s with an .008 high G were stretched across 24 gleaming frets. Quick action adjustment set everything in order and I plugged it in. The overall sound is nice but Im not a big fan of the Duncan JB in the bridge so Ill have to get some new pickups sooner or later. The output is a little low and I could use something with a bit more cut overall. Since I got such a good deal on the guitar, likely due to the seller's terrible photos, I might splurge and dump a couple hundred bucks on a pair of bareknuckles for the bridge and middle. I might also get Qtuners but I haven't really heard any reviews of their guitar pickups. I considered lundgrens but it seems the pickups dont really fit well in most cavities and Id rather go with some warpigs because they look so damn cool and I have heard nothing but good reviews. Does anyone have any experiances with the Bareknuckle Warpig 7s or does anyone know how much they are compared to the 6 string versions?

I have a few nice ones and ones that go to shows and on tour.

By this time next week (when I have your 7620 and you have my S7420) I will have the following:

RG7620 w/ quilted mahogany body - natural finish
RG7421 w/ new 7s and all maple neck (effectively a 7621) - black
RG7620 metallic black (yours) - you did put a neck pickup in right?
ESP HSC7 - black

The only ones that will go on tour are the metallic black 7620 and the 7421. Ill probably look for another 7421 or a 7621 for the tour just in case. I like having backups. So Ill have 4 which seems to be in line with many people here.

Yeah, there's a neck pickup in it.

I can't wait for that S. After I get the S, I'm gonna get a nice hardtail 7 in August or around then. I think I'll either get a Hellrasier or a 7621/7421.

Word. I like the 7421s and 7621s since I dont have to worry about breakage and tuning problems. I cant flutter on them which can be a hassle. I cant stand the 7321s though. I know a lot of people like them but the fretwork always feels like crap to me, the fingerboards are always the lowest grade greenish rosewood, and the overall feel is cheaper than the older models.

There's a few earlier 7321 I've played that I really liked. I play a current one now and every now and then it feels okay.

Oh yeah, the Warpig 7 costs the same as the 6 string version.

NICE, next paycheck I guess. Ill probably get a slightly underwound bridge and an underwound neck. I dont want them so hot that I cant get a decent clean tone but I want a fair amount of output in the bridge. The neck will really be a middle position though.

Ill definitly post pics. I have always liked the ESP SRC models and I have the black 6 string version and an SC500 - the original LTD SRC model. So now I have three carpenter guitars and only one deftones album... go figure. Did I mention that this is one of the really early HSC7s. Its from what Im guessing to be the very first run which I remember had signed back plates like this one does. Not screen printed but actually signed in paint pen.
