My alder S7
(diverted from Modded my 97' UV!, so i don't hijack Heavy Ed's thread any more than i already have....)
thanks, dudes! it's routed for a Lo-Pro 7, i just did the rout really shallow to leave as much wood as possible. actually too shallow--i'm gonna have to shim the neck a bit. that is the final finish, nitro laquer over stain, but that pic was taken halfway through the wetsanding, so the glossy shine hasn't come in yet. i need to take some new pics. DarkWolf, the neck single is the Anderson i have, that has a big bar magnet glued across the bottom. it sounded really bright and clear when i did the test assembly. the body wasn't finished then, and i had the pickup wired straight to the output jack beacuse i didn't want to install the pots, but hopefully it'll still sound that good with the finish and the volume pot. |

Whats up with the switch hole. Is some sort of different switch going there or is that just what it looks like under the plastic cover?

Very classy so far and I really dig single coils. Hope everything goes smoothly with the construction.

I always thought Ibanez should build S series guitars from some woods other than mahogany. A maple bodied S7 would be awesome.
That guitar should be pretty damn cool. |

Isn't that a warmoth body?
If not, it looks damn close. Ibanez RG7421XL w/ DiMarzio Evolution and Liquifire Ibanez K7WH w/ DiMarzio Evolution Ibanez RG7321BK w/ Blaze Custom Agile Intrepid Pro 828 w/ EMG808 My band Scarangella |

nope, that's an S7 body i'm building from a giant maple board. it's not contoured yet, and i haven't routed for the recessed trem, so it doesn't look exactly like an S at this point. but it will be, eventually.
but not with a maple fingerboard--sorry, Drew. on bright-sounding bodies, i like a mellower fingerboard wood like rosewood.Quote:

thanks very much, but a lame camera and weak lighting hide a multitude of sins.
i'm best at the routing, so the raw bodies look good; i'm not so great at the finishing, so they look less good the further along i get.

Scott that maple bodied S7 will be stunning when it's done. It's even a SSH pickup config. I want it.

Nice work man - those bodies look VERY nice!!! Which leads to the question of necks... Where do you plan on finding a pair of 22 fret 25.5" 7-string necks? Oh, and that alder body screams for a maple board (I agree with you that the maple body needs rosewood to make it slightly mellower).
Cheers Eske P.s.: If you don't like your own finishes, you should consider taking it to a pro - shouldn't be too expensive and it'll look much nicer than the spraycan/garden solution. "Do be do be do" - Frank Sinatra |
