the mahogany one is almost done:




i couldn't wait to hear how it sounded, so i wired the bridge humbucker up to the output jack with a resistor to simulate a cranked volume knob. amazingly thick chewey tone, maybe from the Noodles-style Custom + A5 magnet.

the neck is pretty old. i got it from Shawn on these forums, and i think he got it ages ago from ibanez rules. it's a 22-fret UV neck made by Performance Guitars in hollywood, who made some of Vai's pre-JEM prototypes. it's a sweet neck, ebony fretboard and heavy as hell, but i have no idea if they would still make one.
