 | Custom 7-string on the way! It's been awhile.. I've finally got a 7-string on the way after being out of the 7-string game for a couple of years  I decided to go with Jim Soloway for this 7-string project, as I've had nothing but the best experience with him and one of his guitars that I acquired 2 years ago. His design concept is based around a 27" neck. I'm completely satisfied with that guitar, which is a chambered 6-string which is amazingly versatile for jazz and slightly more rocking stuff. Being chambered though, it didn't have that sort of bite that I find I get from solidbody guitars, so I decided to suck it in and get a 7-string solidbody from him this time.What I have on the way is basically a hard-tail 7-string with a black limba top and a korina back. The neck shape is, according to Jim, inspired by the Ibanez necks, so I'm guess Wizard 7 for the 7-string (the 6 string definitely has that Wizard feel going on). I was also very, very lucky to score some custom pickups on this guitar. It will have a Mo'Joe 7 in the bridge and a Bluesbreaker 7 in the beck, but wound by DiMarzio. The Mo Joe should definitely get hot enough for some crunch, and the Bluesbreaker has some really nice single coil stuff going on in the neck position. The middle pickup is a Vintage Vibes strat-style single coil. The finishing touches are being put on it and it should be here sometime next week, after which I'll put up some photos and soundclips as well as some of my thoughts on how it turned out. In the meantime, here's a little bit to whet your appetite :p   |

And apparently he has something new in the works.. It's a 6 string guitar on a 7-string neck. Sort of like an electric guitar with classical string spacing.
