Best/warmest wood

Which wood for the body gives a guitar warmest sound? I know MAPLE is supposed to be really bright and articulate, MAHOGANY dark and bassy but what's your experience with wood? I'm about to buy a mahogany Schecter C7 Blackjack as an alternative to my basswood Ibanez but maybe I should look for some other wood to get the sound I dream of... I want plenty of low mids but also tight, articulate sound! I used to think mahogany was like the best you can get but I know some guys hate mahogany for being boomy and muddy...

Mahogany is the warmest wood ive heard so far
You lose a lot in its mids though...
Good for bedroom playing.

Sorry but it's not that easy : there's no "BEST" wood, they just sound different not better or worse...

For a tight and articulate sound, I'd go for swamp ash, but it's very personnal...
Quality, construction, hardware, everything in a guitar change the sound a little bit, it's not just a question of wood.

Telling us you hate our music only makes us play it LOUDER

ALL MAHOGONY NECK THRU WILL GET YOU THE WARMTH YOU'RE ASKING FOR, BUT ADD AN EBONY FRETBOARD TO EVEN OUT THE TOP END & BRING SOME PERCUSSIVE ATTACK TO YOUR TONE. THIS IS A COMMON COMBINATION FOR A VERY BALANCED TONE.

Mahogany+buboginga+maple = ultra heavy sound for the bass notes.

Based on your description, mahogany with a thick maple cap and semi flat eq pickups or swamp ash with pickups that are dialed down eq-wise at the top end a bit.

Would also recommend maple or ebony fingerboard for the pick snap if you use mediumish sized fretwire. If jumbo then the fingerboard wont matter that much. Stainless Steel frets will also add to the snap.

Go to Carvins website, and somewhere on there is a description of the differences in tonewoods, right down to curly Koa.

I've also been curious to know how the Ibanez UV777P (Basswood body, bolt-on Maple neck) would sound in comparison to the new Xiphos (Neckthru Mahogany). Would both guitars have great lows as well as clear, slightly deadened high-notes? I've heard this is the case for the Xiphos. The Universe seems a bit more complicated.
