Odd question -- fretboard Bleaching?

We all know you can dye fretboards for faux-ebony looks but here's one -- is it possible to bleach them for faux maple looks? Not considering doing it, just wondering if its a possibility.

Wood gets bleached by the sun, so I'd say so...it won't look or feel like maple but you can certainly make it lighter.

well yeah. dyed rosewood doesnt look like ebony, it looks like dark rosewood, i figured on something like that.. it'd probably look like ass though

I have a broken RG570 neck that I'm going to practice scalloping on...I could try this for you guys and take pics. What should I use...just everyday household bleach?

well seaspray has saltwater...and sun...sand...all kinds of shit, I guess anything would work

i also did a the google, and found there's a bunch of ready made products and stuff. im sure they couldnt cost more than like 5-8$.

i was thinking about doing this myself in the future even though it sounds really risky. in the end i think i'd just play it safe and buy a neck w/a maple fretboard.
